Nintendo Gamecube

Post by Jammer XCI »

Since everyone here is heavily into Nintendo, rec. me some games for this. I had one that broke like 15 years ago and I never got another one until now.

I do still have Super Smash Bros. Melee and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask mini CDs for it, but that's all I ever had for it, I never bought this system and got both for free.

Eternal Darkness. There is nothing like it.
Timesplitters 2. It’s basically Goldeneye 2.

People are still playing this competitively, with prize pools often topping $50k. What's a copy of SSBM worth these days?

Timesplitters 2 was so good.

Metroid Prime is the masterpiece of the system.

My stepson from my previous marriage just graduated college and all throughout college he played this competitively. They are so serious about it they still play on tube tvs because there is less lag. When he was in high school I used to haul him around to tournaments with his big TV in tow.

$50. Fighting games seem to stay reasonably priced.

Did anyone ever play Odama - a pinball / strategy game that requires the GameCube microphone? I’ve seen it listed on some best of GameCube lists, but I have been reluctant to track it down given the weirdness of the game + the gimmick of the microphone.

That's rad. I don't really know what's going on while watching the pros go at it -- wave dash this, upsmash that -- but it's entertaining nonetheless.

Reminds me of hauling gear to gigs … fun at first but got really damn old after a while.

SSBM tournaments are way more badass than Bammer's band ever was, though.

Could Bammer using a normal controller beat Ruddo's stepson using a maracas controller(which is a real thing)?

Man now I’m really eating crow for all the times I posted about how great I am at SSBM.
