Eddie and Bruce Springsteen are releasing a covers album

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

That took a rough turn. I have no problem with this and think Bruce and Eddie’s contribution is solid. It’s the weird attempt to rejigger the song that’s not sitting well and that seems to be Tom Morello’s fault.

Am I the only one who quits singin' along every time they play a Springsteen song?

Never been a Springsteen fan, either. I know he’s good, just not my thing.

AC/DC created a really fun sound, and then made good records with it right up until 1981. Then they shat out a lifetime’s worth of albums that had one good song apiece and were otherwise just a string of tired riffs and ejaculation jokes that got sadder with every year.

That’s probably not true. I was just too bored to continue after Ballbreaker. But those 80’s and 90’s records are shit, and the idea that if you like Back in Black you’ll like them absolutely baffles me.

Because Bon Scott was a fucking fantastic frontman and Powerage is one of the greatest hard rock records ever (and they never made a bad record with Bon)

Because Angus is a badass guitar player who doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves

Because Malcolm, Phil and Cliff has a swagger and swing that few, if any, rhythm sections in rock history can match

Someone else mentioned that they put out great records until 1981, I'd argue it's through 1983 and then it nosedives, but with a couple of decent albums after that. The problem is that Bon was witty and playful, both in his lyrics and his delivery...Angus and Malcolm were more overtly obvious in their lyrics which dumbed it down to a Beavis and Butthead level. Sometimes the music was good enough to overcome it, but most times it wasn't.

That’s nowhere even close to their best song. Not even their best song with new singer guy.

I have a feeling he was talking more about the album than the song itself

Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution is fucking badass.

And I still turn up Dirty Deeds, Girls Got Rhythm and TNT. Great fun.

And remember, they did have the balls to add a bagpipe solo into a rock song.
