Because Angus is a badass guitar player who doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves
Because Malcolm, Phil and Cliff has a swagger and swing that few, if any, rhythm sections in rock history can match
Someone else mentioned that they put out great records until 1981, I'd argue it's through 1983 and then it nosedives, but with a couple of decent albums after that. The problem is that Bon was witty and playful, both in his lyrics and his delivery...Angus and Malcolm were more overtly obvious in their lyrics which dumbed it down to a Beavis and Butthead level. Sometimes the music was good enough to overcome it, but most times it wasn't.

Some things should maybe be left alone….including folk covering signature Pearl Jam or Bruce Springsteen songs. No worries with this cover as it’s clearly been done to help boost Tom Morello’s latest thing, but unless you reinvent something which improves on the original then you’re on a highway to MoR.

I feel like Angus is praised amongst other guitarists but a lot of music fans/press denigrate him because "it's all the same song"...Strat wrote:Angus young is considered one of the greats. Angus has an amazing internal/natural rhythm that many players overlook. I once watched a video on "why so many guitarists cover this song wrong!" and i believe it was highway to hell. It was enlightening.wease wrote:Do you consider him one of the greats?Strat wrote:Angus young is considered one of the greats. I think the best covers zero in on exactly those strengths that song and covering artist happen to share.Jeez wrote:unless you reinvent something which improves on the original then you’re on a highway to MoR.
This track, by comparison, sounds like something that was put together by a producer with connections for the Wild Hogs soundtrack.

But this thread is still kinda sorta about AC/DC.
On a side note, I like to throw them into random 70s and 80s rock playlists just because there’s nothing particularly important about them. Sometimes it’s nice to have good fun without analyzing everything.

Angus is great, but Malcolm Young is the most important guitarist in AC/DC.

Im also done critiquing every little thing EV/pearl jam do.
30 years baby. The more the merrier. I want all the EV and Pj collabs/recordings/events. Bring it. All of it.
Good, bad, ugly. Just give me everything.

It kind of shocks me that Spenno loves acdc with his views and other tastes in music. Honestly, would you love them if they weren't hometown boys?

Uh, yes?
This has nothing to do with parochialism.
I don't think it's surprising at all, personally.
AC/DC are elemental, primal, minimalist - just great music.

I like several of their songs I just always wish they were a little faster. Like maybe 9% faster.
