Absurd sucks
I'll get plenty of shit for this, but nothing Velvet Revolver or Slash/Myles Kennedy put out was anywhere near the piece of shit that Absurd is. At this point I'd be much more excited for another Slash/Myles album than a new GNR album.

Re: Even more Guns N Roses Hilarity
I found the Slash/Myles albums got blander and blander with each release. I loved Apocalyptic Love but everything since is pretty blah to me. Both are great talents but I don't think they bring out the best on each other.MattA75 wrote:Absurd sucks

Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

I'll take the heat off you by admitting that, outside of a few songs, I've never even liked GnR. Like, I even Appetite isn't very good.MattA75 wrote:Absurd sucks

Re: Even more Guns N Roses Hilarity
I am not a long haul GNR guy, but I think Appetite was a great album, both in its ultimate delivery but also in the change it inevitably spurred in mainstream audiences. I can’t think of another album around that time (maybe there is and I don’t know of it) that had that large a mainstream audience impact that wasn’t either along the lines of Bon Jovi and Poison (I mean in context comparison Every Rose Has Its Thorn to Paradise City, c’mon man) or the pop music of the day…it sort of broke open a new space for artists to be popular without falling into a distinct musical identity (after them comes very different but equally sub genre mashups and quirks like Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction - double note that I mean in terms of breaking hard into mainstream popularity, MTV plays, etc. it’s not about artist impact as much as it is about audience impact). I think the dam didn’t totally break open audience wise until Nirvana extinguished the mainstream impact of those 80s bands, and it’s quite possible GNR were not at all instrumental in changing the formula that it seemed every band had to follow to gain air space, but I can remember that they were shocking and different and had an edge that stood out from Warrant and Ratt.

Re: Even more Guns N Roses Hilarity
Gnr was dangerous man. They were super different than all those 80s bands for sure, maybe in Motley Crue was there with them. Also, musically they evolved and changed more than their peers, and were also linked more with the grunge bands in more than one way..( Duff being the obvious link).
Also, i prefer Absurd to anything Slash did outside GNR.

Certainly can't deny their impact and place in pop/rock history.
