Set out for a 5 mile run yesterday, but during the first mile I realized my calves were too tight. I saw the swimming pool was empty and decided to take the kid and wife swimming. It was a great time and I still got a little exercise. Maybe I can run my 5 miles this evening.

It's been my experience that most issues like that usually work themselves out after mile 2.

My congestion has been bad again and my wife talked me out of an 8 mile run I had planned this morning. Her exact words were "you shouldn't go run this morning." She's probably right. A Goggins I am not.

Big bowl of udon and bok choy fuel I had last night, wasted.

forced myself to go and i’m very pleased with the results…a little less than what’s prinavky my average pace, but I also wasn’t trying to really push myself

hope to get in two more before next Saturday’s race

Holy fuckity fuck did today's run kick my ass. 6.24 miles of heat and suffering on an August morning in Texas. Sun reflecting off glass, concrete and stagnant bayou water.

I stopped after three miles and considered riding the light rail back to where I started. Ate some Swedish fish in the shade instead, walked a little bit, then somehow made it through the rest of the run. Not sure why I bonked, but I did. Legs felt rested, I felt hydrated, had some carbs in my system, etc. Sometimes the run is just out to get you, I guess.

I saw a family full of baby ducks at one point. That made me smile. Next 8 days will be me piddling around Arkansas towns and trails. Hope I don't get shot on someone's property.

ha. yes.

There are a couple of places we are staying outside of city limits where I can't really tell where property ends and nature begins on google maps.

Can't be any worse than running thru tent towns around some of the sketchier downtown segments along the bayou trailways here.
