Three-Body Problem was interesting. I'm definitely check out the next one.

But first, I'm switching gears and reading Gaiman's "The Ocean at the End of the Lane."

Gaiman and I have a complicated relationship. We'll see how this goes.

This was great.

Now I'm reading "Japanese Tales of Mystery and Imagination" by Edogawa Ranpo. So far, so good. The first two stories were interesting.

Since I'm still mostly at home for another few weeks and not having to travel much, I think I'm going to start a big ol' heavy book. Should be easier not having to lug it on the train every day. Hopefully, I can finish it before I head back to work.

Going with:

City on Fire by Garth Risk Hallberg

It's massive. Like 900+ pages. But the story sounds super interesting and I'm excited to do something epic after a few shorter reads.

A lot of fun. I'm not sure the stories, specifically their structures, always resonated with me. But that's what's cool about reading books/stories from other cultures (even in translation), not everyone, everywhere structures things or focuses on the same literary values as westerners. Different mythological traditions. Different kinds of stories. Different focal points.

The themes of most of the stories were super interesting, though, and a lot of the imagery stuck with me, even when I thought I wasn't into the story as much. I find myself thinking about them a lot, even now, after having read a novel since.

Then its mostly comics these days....but ill try to finish Blade Runner and then maybe dive into American Gods again or Disgrace.

But its been hard.

When I used to buy a lot of used books, I used to love to get some with inscriptions. It's been a while, but today I got a book with the owner's name written in the cover along with the day she got it--Christmas Day 1937.
