Whoa! You’ve really put some time in. I have only played one round outside of adventure mode. I’m trying to save it for when my buddy comes to play so it feels fresh for a while. How do the courses hold up over time? They seem really easy compared to Toadstool Tour.

I really wish there were more courses, but I've been playing a lot of online matches and I'm not sick of them yet.

Good update for Mario Golf last night. I like the New Donk City course and ranked online play.

Do you think they’ll do monthly updates with a new character and new course each time? I’m underwhelmed by Toadette and an all par 3 course. I made it through 4 holes before the bursting fire hydrant noise drove me crazy.

Monthly is pushing it.

But it does look like there will be a new prize for doing well in ranked matches each month. This month it unlocked color options for Yoshi.

And I really like Donk City. I hope the next course they make is more than a par 3 but outside of the rookie course we didn't have one of those yet so this is fine. And it's a fun environment with all the buildings, it's got a mini golf feel to it.

Toadette sucks though. She has the worst style special shot.

Finally played each course (except New Donk) with my Mario Golfing buddy. He’s been playing quite a bit since it came out. We did regular stroke play and used two star clubs. These are not his records, just his scores tonight (I’d be interested in RM users’ records):

Rookie Course: -23 with Pauline’
Bonny Greens: -18 with Donkey Kong
Ridge rock Lake: -12 with Rosalina
Balmy Dunes: - 14 with Luigi
Wildweather Woods: -13 with Yoshi
Bowser Highlands: -12 with Toad

He’s unreal. I never finished better than 5 strokes behind him. I shot under par on every course but Bowser Highlands. Those greens are bitches.

I think it’s a great game. I love that the graphics are hardly an improvement over the GameCube game. It feels like a direct sequel.

My qualms are few and nitpicky, but here they are:
I wish you could see the projected trajectory of the ball. Am I going right into that tree or 40 yards over it?
I wish it said how many inches or feet the elevation changes are on putts so I could better gauges on hard to hit them. Those two things were available on Toadstool Tour.
The Rookie course and Bonny Greens are too similar. I doubt we’ll ever play the rookie course again.
There isn’t any real noticeable difference among characters other than length.

Future dlc wishlist:
Diddy Kong, Princess Zelda, Ganondorf, Wart, and Tom Nook are the five characters I’d most like to see.
A Great Plateau Breath of the Wild course, a haunted Luigi’s Mansion inspired course, and just packs of courses from the GameCube and 3ds games, especially the latter.
3 star clubs to make regularly going for par 4 greens and par 5 albatrosses a possibility.

Great ideas on courses too. I'd also like to see some traditional mario worlds themed courses. Think of the terrain in Mario 3 or SMW. Give me a cloud world course, an ice world course, a pipe world course where you have to land it in pipes to come shooting out at other locations. Shit like that.

I am having a hell of a time getting the 3 star gold on about 3 circuits in mirror mode on MK 8. Ugh.

Looks like you’re a bit better than my friend. He actually broke his Bowser Highlands record last night with Toad, but the rest of his bests are with his long driving Mii:

Rookie: -29
Bonny Greens: -20
Ridgerock Lake: -16
Balmy Dunes: -17
Wildweather Woods: -14
Bowser Highlands: - 12 with Toad
New Donk City: -NA at the moment

I hate using my mii. Yoshi is my favorite. I should have a -18 on New Donk City by the end of the night

Yoshi's good but he maxes out at 3 spin sections on the meter instead of 4.
