I'm not sure how anyone would think this would have ended any other way. Now or ten years from now with a more gradual force reduction.

But how long until we pay/supply the Taliban to fight China to stop the spread of communism?

Its a shame that we just let the Afghan Special Forces dissolve into the ether. Coulda been a useful expeditionary force like the Gurkhas.

Was it too much to ask to get people out first?

It did. Sadly. They videos of the bodies that fell on houses. But this is the clip of take off. It’s all the news over here is talking about in the lead. Two helicopters chasing them off the run way ahead of the plane. So fuckin sad. We’re about to see a massive humanitarian crisis and millions of refugees. *if* they’re even allowed leave

The neocons are trying to wring as much as they can from this one. Bill Krystal, Shapiro, etc all have their usual bullshit takes. Didn't expect Marianne Williamson to jump on the wagon though.
I don't think they'll get much mileage out of it, tho.

He made a few of the British papers today too.
That’s what they’re like though. He’s in exactly the wrong place to be waving his English exceptionalism around right now.

Interesting new messaging I see appearing: "The Taliban has not been our enemy for over a decade. We were there for Al Qaeda"
