WtOB? wrote:i just listened to that australian radio interview mike did about a week ago. mike said he isn't even on pendulum. interesting...

And everyone who's heard it has raved about it! I think the song is probably bare, with some atmospheric bass, piano, weird effects, and I read that Stone added some guitars over it. And Ed's vocals are supposed to be killer.

I can't wait to hear it.

I'm very interested to see how Yellow Moon saves the second half, considering it almost wasn't on the album.

And Matt is supposedly doing some cool things on the drums on Pendulum as well.

Which made me think, I don't think any of the early reviews have mentioned any drums on Sleeping By Myself. They mention the full band, but if there's drums I can actually look forward to it more.

Yeah they have, someone mentioned a weird groove.

I don't know if that necessarily means drums though. Someone mentioned Mumford and Sons, and they sometimes don't have any drums, that's kind of what I got out of it.

I hope there is though.

Nothing yet, we are getting the EPK later today, which should be cool. We may hear a few things we haven't yet.

Backspacer leaked about 10 days out from release. We are about 14 days from the German release. I think it's going to leak any moment now. Maybe next week.

When do they not have drums? They usually do on songs of that type. I'm gonna read the reviews again but I'm sure one or two mention a full-band arrangement as well.

Not according to the Q&A review, it looks like it'll just be four of the songs we've heard.

I was thinking of the song "Little Lion Man" but I was wrong, I just heard it, and yes they use a drum but barely, there's entire parts of the song where it's just dudes playing folk guitar.

Well some people mentioned that it seemed to be part of a larger film, as in they didn't get to see the whole thing. Even so, we'll hear some cool things, like the different version of Getaway someone mentioned.

Yeah, I just remembered some of that stuff has a bass drum and percussion but no snare so you might not hear "drum kit" as such.

This is the listening party review I was thinking of that most seemed to suggest a full band, but you're right, it's not as clear as I thought it was:

10. Sleeping By Myself
We know the song from Eddie solo, but this is a real band version. More flashy, TV show like, maybe even cabaret, guitar singing along, very full. Background singing, lots of bass. Really strange if you keep the version we know in your mind. I wonder what this sounds like if it is the first version you hear. A part is acoustic, but then the whole band joins again. Frank, one of the writers who sat next to me, had a face that showed exactly what he wrote down: WTF. I am still thinking I want to like this song. Really not something to decide after just one listen.

Wish the Rolling Stone had asked him what he thought of the One Direction concert he went to and why he lets his kids listen to aural fructose.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

Yeah, that would be nice if it was extended with some more song clips on it.

True story: Backspacer is almost entirely aural fructose.

One of the listening party reviews includes a description of the EPK they watched during the BoB Q&A. But it's just been pointed out to me that they just saw a clip of something longer, so we might get new clips I'm not sure.
