Yeah, that's definitely happening. Maybe fewer drivers necessitated really obnoxious bus schedules? Good call.
Yeah, they're filling busses fuller and running them for longer.
Last year, we maxed our buses out at 33%. Now they're at 100% capacity and doubling up on routes. So, your kid is cheek-to-cheek with 2 total strangers for a full hour.

No thanks!

As much as I am against vaccine passports, I am not willing to stake my livelyhood on it. Kudos to him for sticking to his principles but what a price to pay if he loses his job.

BC is rolling out vaccine passports. I am very against this (we have a near 85% vax rate already) and am not sure what steps I will take to protest. I know that I will not download and use the government app for this and have them issue me the alternate/paper version.
I think this is where there is a big disconnect with me and some of you as well as some family and friends. What freedom is being taken away from me if I have to disclose my vaccine status? The freedom not to? Ok, what do I care if my employer knows it? What could your neighbor's employer possibly do with the information that he is vaccinated? Also, people who bitch about privacy rights while posting on social media all day while sitting next to their Alexa speakers baffle me.

It's not like you have to provide a social security card, driver's licence, drug test, criminal background check, and/or birth certificate to be employed or anything...

Dems say it's racist to require ID to vote. You bar over 60% of NYC Blacks from participating in life but I guess that's not disparate impact enough to be racist.

It's always bad the first two days but even today (day 5) it's literally two miles long from the school. Usually by this point the whole line would fit on school property. My only guess is the school bus thing.
I literally do not want my kids to come home with me enough to sit in a 2-mile line.

I certainly understand keeping your health history from your boss. They don't need to know your sex habits, pregnancy status, chronic diseases, etc, especially to the extent that they don't prevent you from effectively doing your job, but a COVID vaccine is recommended for ALL people because we are ALL at risk. Getting a COVID doesn't make you any different than any other person.

Vaccine mandates won't solve the problem though. Why all this laser focus on the vaccines? The days of 95% effective are long gone.

doesn’t mean it’s still not very effective against fighting the novel virus

No. They are not.

I'm just spitballing here, but if the vaccines are still really effective at preventing major covid cases, then wouldn't having a vaccinated population be the single best way to get rid of masks and physical distancing, etc.?

Fair that it's before delta, but we don't have any info there yet, so declaring vaccine efficacy dead is premature. And how many people were vaccinated is largely irrelevant when looking at the protection provided to vaccinated people.

While I'm researching ... this study: https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0057100

The infamous 10% study, studied the effectiveness of masks using 1 micrometer diameter particles. The water droplets that carry COVID are estimated to be 10 micrometers in diameter, so it's unclear how relevant this data is. Not to mention that this study doesn't show anything about how likely someone is to get sick when wearing different types of masks or no masks at all (a study you can't do because it would be unethical to suggest someone take NO precautions from COVID just to see how they do in a study). It's a fluid dynamics study, not a study that measures viral spread.

This was also a problem with that fucking Duke professor that sprayed liquid through various masks and got me shamed from wearing buffs because he observed fine particles going through. There was no data as to whether COVID could actually be carried by those tiny, broken up particles or that a person sitting next to a person in a buff was any more likely to get more sick than anyone else.

All of these studies are worthless for dictating human behavior and only useful in that they might direct another scientist to adjust their hypothesis in future tests.
