It's still wild to me that Outspan from The Commitments is an Oscar winning musician who's just released an album with Eddie Vedder.

In the grand explanatory frameworks of RM there are really just 4 options:

1. Pearl Jam Album
2. Pearl Jam side project (Ed solo album, Brad, whatever Jeff is doing, etc)
3. Guest spots
4. Compilation appearance

So within these 4 options (and everything must be 1 of these 4 things) Ed solo album is the only thing that makes sense!
The bottom two are far more appropriate categories.

Insofar as this is anyone's solo project, it's clearly Glen's (feat Eddie Vedder and Cat Power with a special appearance by Olivia Vedder).

That's probably accurate. However, Ed and Glen do have an equal number of writing credits (8). If someone on a Glen Hansard board wanted to call it a Glen solo album featuring Eddie Vedder I'd allow.
Ha!

Fair enough.

Other than the Heee-heee instrumental though, the compositions really feel like Glen's. Credits side.

Car Power also has three of the best songs on the thing!

I certainly don't think Eddie is driving the ship on this Eddie Vedder solo album featuring collaborators Glen Hansard and Cat Power

I like this more with each listen as well, though I don't think it's ever gonna nudge itself up beyond pleasant. I want to write a review for it, but I honestly haven't found an angle to tie it all together, and I don't feel like watching the movie to see if that helps.

Are there definitive lyrics anywhere?

I love the hope you exhibit by asking that.

Soundtracks generally don't include lyrics, but even if this one happens to have them in the liner notes.

Pearl Jam needs to sign up with a real label.

So far, I've only listened to Father's Daughter, Flag Day and Drive. I really enjoy Father's Daughter. Ed's vocal stuff, which felt less pronounced on Gigaton, gets in the way of me enjoying the other two.

This got me to Glen Hansard’s cover of Drive All Night. Pretty darn stunning.

Yeah, Eddie Vedder provides some backup vocals and Jake Clemons plays sax.
