This freaks me out a little because I pretty much just said the same thing describing his drumming to a detractor.

He is basically playing simple rock & roll but his drumming is somehow never boring. He had a swing that was rare. That's also why they were good at dabbling in disco. That shit makes me wanna dance.
Its a magical dance of playing loose and keeping it tight at the same time.
Charlie's good tonight, i'n'he?

What is the reasoning for pausing on the hi hat while accenting the snare that some drummers, like Watts, do?

Hopefully that makes sense....

Listening to 1973-02-24 Perth, which is a super sloppy show early on.

Mick: "On the drums, Charlie Watts! Never misses a beat."

Watts never flounders but it was surely a job trying to figure out what the hell the rest of the band was trying to do during Gimme Shelter.

Pretty rock solid reason why he's missing the tour.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Well, let’s see. The Who has The Beatles’ drummer’s son on drums. So the Stones should get Bonham Jr? Moon’s daughter? One of Baker’s kids?

Ooh. Nice. I saw him with Clapton 10 or so years ago. I put him behind Ferrone but ahead of Gadd in my rankings of drummers I’ve seen with Clapton.

That's some pretty niche ranking.

Clapton has pretty good drumming tastes.

Still pretty stuck on this compilation. There are songs I really like on the later, classic stones albums (Sticky Fingers, Exile, et al.), but all in all this is the era of Stones music I like most, the one where I feel like I can throw on pretty much anything and just dig the noise they were making.

The last thing I really need is another Stones boot but "hell yeah" thanks for another Stones boot!

I had really forgotten how many I had and just what a wealth of audio there is circulating.

There is an enormous amount of bootlegged studio material but 95% of it comes from ratty cassette dubs.

This is a rare release where everything is master reel sourced.

I read the txt file and am looking forward to it.

Some of the AUD pulls from back in the day are not poor at all, I'll take some outside noise and a full spectrum of sound over a SBD that is so hot in the guitars and vox that it is practically unlistenable (whatever '78 show I had on the other day).
