People aren't ready for this conversation yet.
We had this conversation last year pre vaccine. It’s disgraceful we’re still having it post vaccine.
It's a different situation though.

- The vaccine was developed against the original version of the virus, there are now variants that escape it
- The vaccine does not provide years of protection even against the original virus, only months, possible as low as six months
- Teachers were amoungst the first vaccinated... roughly 6 months ago
- The majority of school kids cannot be vaccinated (yet)
- The broadest circulating variant is far more contagious than previous variants and reproduces in the nose and throat meaning low-grade or ill-fitting masks (like the kind most kids have) are not as protective as last school year

I agree though that the fact that there are millions of college educated people out there who will not take a free, safe, effective mitigation step because of some stupid political identity group lock-in is disgraceful. Dead people can't own the libs.

Aren't they already making plans for the fourth booster in NZ/Australia? Take the vaccine if you want but there no reason to put life on hold anymore at this point. Science lost.

Israel and Pfizer are working on a modded version for a fourth round there, yes.

Nashville, TN

I AM LITERALLY SHAKING

My only hope of escaping infection might be the overpowered cologne of my Uber driver somehow neutralizing the virus. HE COUGHED IN THE CAR.

Pray

This sounds like BS.

A 39-year-old should've never been put on a ventilator for Covid.

i love the thought of verb walking past people on the streets--any street--looking them in the eyes and saying, "SUNS IN FOUR! SUNS IN FOUR!," as a reference to science losing the battle against covid.
