Agreed, though GTF can be compared to Lightning Bolt in that written down it's not that great:

He's.. flying
Whole
High.. wide, oh
That's not the chorus...
Which bit is the chorus???

If I had to compare something to the ocean and waves I would chose Cropduster. That song just flows, you know? Every part just seamlessly flows into the next one like...a wave.

Yeah I consider that whole part the chorus.

The "He still gives his love..." bit is an extension of the verse, to me, in the same way as that climactic loud verse is at the end of LB. But yeah, PJ really suck at a traditional song structure. Aaaaaaand that happens to be what keeps Sirens from being a typical schlock ballad. The structure is a mess.

The "A wave came crashing..." part is the same melody as the verse, it's just an octave higher. So I don't see it as a chorus.

"Garden" is a very good traditional chorus.

Some of the best Pearl Jam songs don't really have choruses.

That's actually what I love about Pearl Jam. The weird song structures. To hell with normal song structures!

Guys, the more you think about how unwilling PJ is to write cheesy choruses, the better Lightning Bolt becomes.

My favorite part is the end "Driftin Awaaay" That's not the chorus, but it's great.

To me it just sounds like more verse sung at a higher octave.

I actually feel like now that we're pointing out how many great, fairly traditional choruses they've got, I'm kinda pissed off they don't do it more often.

I guess I just think that if it's a weakness for Lightning Bolt, it's a weakness for other songs too. The main difference for me is an older Ed. Ed used to be able to scream any old crap and we'd buy it.

Ten (and Ten era) def has the best "simple" choruses - Once, Why Go, Deep, Garden, Alone, Breath, Jeremy, Even Flow, Alive, Leash, Wash...yada yada and such

[Mostly all one-word titles too]
