I don't understand enough about mastering to know what WCT has done here. Wasn't it a completed product already, aside from the compiling?

Oh, OK. Cause I've listened to these recordings many times already I dunno when it will be, but I'll try to remember to download this to avoid YouTube next time. Thanks for doing it, guys.

feels like that song gets somewhat of a bad rap (maybe cause of the music video?) but I love it (and the video) and this live version

All I did to this set was to make everything the same level which is why it is "mastered" and not "remastered".

It's limited a little bit but not much because it's already super compressed, the KOL set more so than the others and it's a little bit fuzzy too.

Thank you guys for this! Listening now, not for the first time but certainly not for the last either. I'm guessing this isn't a super-popular take but I think In Rainbows and The King of Limbs are my two favorite back-to-back albums in their catalog (in fact they'd be my top 2 Radiohead albums overall if not for OK Computer, which jockeys with In Rainbows for the top spot depending on how fondly toward my memories of 1997-98 I'm feeling on any given day). I just love everything about the musical space they were in at this time, and these performances just pop - the King of Limbs tracks especially come across in a way that they don't on the album, crisper and more present, as if someone looked into a space that was dimly lit and dusty and shone a big bright light on it. It's not a better/worse thing, necessarily, but definitely illuminating.

I've always had a bit of a challenge really getting into live Radiohead, despite WCT and Brad's many beautiful presentations of it -- they've just never been a band where live versions have really transported me someplace so meaningfully different than the studio versions that I felt compelled to continue seeking them out, and I've always felt like there was something of a disconnect between the kind of music they make and the size venues they play. But the Basement performances have always been an overwhelming exception to this. Maybe it's something about the environment, more private and suited to the nuances and details of the music, but for my money it's a career high. Just fantastic stuff. Thanks again!

You're all very welcome.

For me, Radiohead has always been a "live band" like The Grateful Dead with the studio versions of the songs being secondary. This is probably related to the songs from Amnesiac>HTTT>In Rainbows being played live long before the albums came out, leading to anticipation as to whether the studio versions would cut it or not, rather than the usual vice-versa.
