Best Britpop Albums
Here's Pitchfork's Top 50 Britpop Albums of all time:
https://pitchfork.com/features/lists-an ... ms/?page=1
I've only heard seven of them (The two Oasis records, Blur's Blur, The Bends, The La's, The Black Grape record and Moseley Shoals).
For those that are more versed in this sub-genre, how does this list stack up? Does it seem like a decent representation?

Re: Best Britpop Albums
If I'm gonna start a deep dive, should I start with Suede? Or Blur? I haven't really heard anything by either (except that one Blur album which had Song No 2 on it and I don't really remember).tragabigzanda wrote:I'm generally happy with the top 10, though a little embarrassed to admit I've never listened to that Suede album

Re: Best Britpop Albums
I think I might start with the #1 album on that list and work my way back to #50. Over time, I'm saying. I'm not gonna dive in and go back to back to back over the next few weeks or whatever. Don't get excited.

I think Bittersweet Symphony is the only Verve song I know.

Supergrass is often underrated. A couple of great albums.

Re: Best Britpop Albums
I saw Supergrass open for Pearl Jam in like... 2000? Bought their third record (the self-titled one) that night. I really dig that album. But it's the only Supergrass record I've listened to. I should fix that.

Re: Best Britpop Albums
Couple thoughts:
- Supergrass' I Should Coco rules.
- Suede's self-titled > Dog Man Star.
- Cool to see Cornershop ranked so highly.
- Surprised to see Ash appear at all. That album is basically (Irish) pop punk with an alt-rock tinge.
- I also wouldn't consider Without You I'm Nothing to be Britpop.
- The writer is being a bit generous to Blur's Modern Life is Rubbish.
