That is definitely why. But I figured if I didn't acknowledge it, people would immediately point out that no band who had had five different drummers could be considered "stable."B wrote:Maybe they feel stable because they haven't changed drummers for 23 years, and all the drummers before Cameron racked up a total of 8 years between them.Kevin Davis wrote:Pearl Jam, despite their various drummer shake-ups, have always felt like a relatively static, self-contained unit,

I guess Ed decides who is in the band. Wasn't Boom a surfing buddy of his? Oh well, I don't see Josh taking away from the live performance at all, and even if he contributes a little to any future records, which wouldn't surprise me, it's nice to see pj evolve.

Not even a joke, he more or less admitted this during the Marc Maron interview right after he was fired: that he wasn't sure what he was going to do financially, as he'd spent all of his RHCP money as it came in and hadn't bought a home or made any other future plans.bada wrote:Hey probably blew through all that sweet Chili Pepper cash so Eddie threw him a bone.

I wonder how much money he made during that period.

i wonder if klinghoffer didn't want to be on stage much? ed throwing him a bone is completely legit and he might be cognizant of the perception of fans. i wouldn't mind if he had a bigger role and didn't hide behind the gear. i'd also love to see pearl jam cover 'purple rain' and he got ed to sing the first verse when ed sat in with the chili peppers. mike played the intro riff after prince died. its all there, just do it.

It’s very good but you really need to start following the Bammer, 9UP, and dad accounts.warehouse wrote:GreenMosquito1996 wrote:ED : " and now I'd like to dedicate this next song to Josh Klinghoffer. "

Re: Welcome to the touring band Josh Klinghoffer
Seems fairly win win to me, his history pre-chilis was as a multi-instrumentalist touring member of a bunch of acts, Gnarls Barkley and PJ Harvey iirc, if he can flesh out the new stuff instrumentally, add something interesting to a few classics and cover the high harmonies so Ed doesn’t sound like a wounded cat, and I never have to hear a wheezed ‘heeeee’ again I won’t complain. Would actually be interested to hear some actual keys played by Josh, Boom has one setting, all Hammond, all the time, which has always felt like a waste of the potential role he fills.
The one thing I will cede to the Angry Dad parade is there is never a need for 4 guitars on one song.
