Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
but what does Pearl Jam sound like? They released Backspacer in 2009 - 12 years ago. That's 40% of their career as a band. Maybe this is what they sound like.tragabigzanda wrote:Are we all at least agreed on the potential silver lining? That Ed is going to relegate this sort of music for his solo stuff, and Pearl Jam is taking a big step back to sounding like Pearl Jam again?

they haven't been playing Backspacer songs in a room for 12 years; THAT would be 40% of their careerChris_H_2 wrote:but what does Pearl Jam sound like? Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
I can’t even tell what Eddie sounds like. For his record, we have an earthy sounding quasi stripped down soundtrack (Into the Wild), an album of songs on ukulele, a collaborative folkie soundtrack, and two songs that could nearly be cut off the 80s adult contemporary rock cloth.

Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
to be fair, Eddie doesn't have to "sound like" anything; I don't think solo side projects have the same pressure to create a brand that bands have

Oh agreed. I meant in terms of relegating a sound to solo albums versus bringing them to the band.Ms Harmless wrote:to be fair, Eddie doesn't have to "sound like" anything; I don't think solo side projects have the same pressure to create a brand that bands have

Next release will be selective covers: Back to the Future edition. Eddie sings Earth Angel, Johnny B. Goode, and all the Huey Lewis you could have been dreamed of. Cat Power guests as Chuck Berry’s talented cousin.
