About to drop $99/month on termite prevention service. We don't have termites but we've got a wood house with a crawlspace. Suddenly, overnight, termites are a big fear for at least one of us in the home...

Feels like a good investment but man it sucks watching money debit from your account for preventative anything.

Termite prevention is good, especially in warmer climates. But shop around. I don't think we pay anything near that a month but now I forget.

Almost done with the basement demo. Contractor starts in two weeks. Going to add a living area, playroom/office/guest bedroom, and a mother in law suite to a space that hasn't been super usable. Really looking forward to it being done.

had someone out to clean the carpets in the basement, our third floor, and a rug on the main floor. he moved two chairs onto the hardwood floors, and proceeded to gouge the hell out of them. great.

yeah, i think we're only a couple hundred or so for the year...they come around about every 6 months

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

My wife got a ficus, put it in a huge pot, then put the pot on our hardwood floor. It leaked slowly for about a week before she went to move it a little and discovered a huge ring on the floor.

so i'm discovering that these aren't easy fixes. dammit.

Having trouble with my battery-powered push mower. I start it, it runs fine, then about two seconds after I start to push it, it dies. And this happens even on the concrete floor of the garage. The troubleshooting in the manual was useless and of course the customer service line is only M-F. Any ideas, o’ great minds of RM?

Are you positive the handle latches are locked into place near the base of the unit, and that the telescopic handle is extended as far out as it will go? It sounded like one of those safety features is powering you down.

Yeah. That’s not the issue. I started it and held the safely bar for 4 minutes and it ran smooth as silk. It’s only when I actually move the mower that it dies. I’ve looked for some kind of odd sensor or something and can’t find anything.

I looked. Nowhere around me had one so I decided to try electric. Haven’t had any problems with it until this one.
