I have a feeling we disagree on a lot of those "big epic ballad things". Also, I feel like the way he uses his voice on Gigaton and in live performances in recent days are about the most we could possibly ask of him.coptheriotact wrote:if only Ed was willing to do more low key songs like dead man rather than these big epic ballad things that do not work with his current voice at all.

Man, if only Long Way and especially that abortion played live for the first time a few days ago were just half as good as anything on Tunnel of Love, I'd be over the moon. Ed's recent stuff is not even on par with anything off Human Touch or Lucky Town.rick malone wrote:Not surprised he's making Springsteen Tunnel of Love type songs(remember the One Step Up cover before Pearl Jam existed).
I'm not Dev. But I suppose he's a cool dude since someone thinks I'm him.

I wouldn’t go that far. I think Long Way is about on par with a Lucky Town song and The Haves in the Human Touch realm. Lucky Town is actually a decent album. Human Touch is a hard sell for me.Dex wrote:Man, if only Long Way and especially that abortion played live for the first time a few days ago were just half as good as anything on Tunnel of Love, I'd be over the moon. Ed really seemed to enjoy himself. I enjoyed it too. Good backing vocals by GH. The performance was stellar. Not a huge fan of the song but this was really good.

I agree. The song isn't great, but this was a really good performance.Habitman wrote:

I finished The Haves. Its the worst thing Ed done since that abortion called Future Days. Its also super similar to that ¨song¨
Im glad its not featured on a Pearl Jam album

It’s actually growing on me a little bit too. I just wish the chorus melody were better.

And as much as i dislike Future Days i would tend to agree at this point i prefer it to The Haves....finally forced myself to sit thru the whole thing last night. Its ends stronger than it starts, but that's not saying much.

Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
Long Way is slightly growing on me thanks to the live performance; I'm hoping that something about the studio production / arrangement of The Haves allows it to grow slightly too, but I still roll my eyes that he seems to have finally written an explicit "aren't we lucky that we're rich?" song

I was just coming on to say how much I am enjoying Long Way. I've listened around 15 times. I can see all the arguments against it, but the song is feeling just right to my ears.
