I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

(I've got about 15 mins left in this book; not my cup of tea so far, but I think I'd be more into it on a re-read.)

Re: What are you currently reading?

I love how in the midst of some nice lyric poetry about nature and love, he drops a truth bomb in The Marriage of Heaven and Hell about how Jesus and Satan are on the same team, good and evil are subjective, and organized religion is the devil.
Very Nietzsche before Nietzsche
Great lines:
"The Devil answered ... I tell you, no virtue can exist without breaking these ten commandments; Jesus was all virtue, and acted from impulse, not from rules."
"Those who restrain desire do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained."
"to angels, Genius looks like torment and insanity."
"He who desires, but acts not, breeds pestilence."(Ressentiment)
"The weak in courage is strong in cunning."
"Drive your cart and your plough over the bones of the dead."
"The apple tree never asks the beech how he shall grow, nor the lion the horse how he shall take his prey." (Master/slave morality)
"The ancient poets animated all sensible objects with Gods or Geniuses, calling them by the names and adorning them with properties of woods, rivers, mountains, lakes, cities, nations, and whatever their enlarged and numerous senses could perceive. And particularly they studied the Genius of each city and country, placing it under its mental deity. Till a system was formed, which some took advantage of and enslaved the vulgar by attempting to realize or abstract the mental deities from their objects. Thus began Priesthood. Choosing forms of worship from poetic tales. And at length they pronounced that the Gods had ordered such things. Thus men forgot that all deities reside in the human breast."
Best of all:
"I have also the Bible of Hell, which the world shall have whether they will or no. One law for the lion and ox is Oppression."
