I had that dream with mind your manners.
Strange coincidence - I had a dream last night that I heard all of Infallible, and it turned out to be an instrumental. Quite good though.

So is that an actual thing, like MENSA, with an induction ceremony / process? I thought it was an abstract concept until RM started to talk about it so much. If it's a real thing, have PJ already made it into it and accepted the invitation, or are we still waiting to find out whether they will?
There's a tv show and everything. I think Eddie might be the one person who's Introduced/ inducted the most bands, rem, the doors, the ramones. I always thought it was a silly concept but its mostly for fun and safe to say they're gonna be aaaaaall over that shit. I think there has to be 25 years since your formation/ first album and after that you can be inducted. I don't know who chooses.

It is a real thing. There is balloting and everything. You are eligible 25 years after your first release, i think. There was a big debate lat yer over whether or not to induct Bon jovi

Veeery interesting. I guess the whole thing confuses me because it's like PJ have only become *that band* over the last few years. Can you just, like, get this privilege by knowing the right people? Probably. I just can't imagine any "lifetime achievement" awards are being handed to PJ because of their brilliant, off-piste and generally defiant of the mainstream middle period.

It is pretty legit. As legit as this stuff can get.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ro ... _inductees

But pearl jam will go in for longevity and the early records.

Harm, there's footage of a HOF induction ceremony in PJ20. And I wouldn't worry about PJ getting in there...inducting other people in is like campaigning for your own slot.

The whole thing is a big, silly joke.

It is a nice way to honor and recognize rock music history. Like any selection process it will be imperfect

Hmmm... there's a lot of names there and not all of them shockingly mainstream, as I thought.

That's a bit contradictory, no? If PJ are campaigning for their own slot are they less likely to get it?

Which one of you photo-shopped that tv guide picture?

Moi.

I was wondering when that would be debunked.

Almost the entire selection board is made up of critics. Hell, Jann Wenner was one of the co-founders of the organization.

So it's really just another critics award, selected by a group that up until last year actually referred to themselves as "rock experts" on its webpage and industry promotion. Hooray.

For all the crap on the lists, though, bands like R.E.M are there. So meh. I guess I won't be devastated if PJ make it. They're not The Sex Pistols and never were, really.
