"Fool On The Hill" was recorded similar to "I Am The Walrus" with the flutes & harmonicas on a seperate tape that was manually flown-in to the final 4-track.

"A Day In The Life" is actually two 4-tracks synchronized and was a major pain in the ass to mix. They had to do it in sections and then edit together. This was also done with "Only A Northen Song" and the results were somewhat disasterous until the pro-tools mix on the "Yellow Sumbarine Songtrack".

I don't think there are any other examples of them doing that. They actually got kind of "lazy" with the White Album, bouncing a lot of shit down to mono for overdubbing like they did with "Penny Lane", because they couldn't be bothered with an elaborate recording process.

Is it time for a tournament yet?

Maybe have 2 tournaments? A pre-1966 tourney (Please Please Me to Rubber Soul + singles/b-sides/outtakes), then a 1966 - 1970 (Revolver - Abbey Road + b-sides/outtakes/singles) one?

Anyone up for it? If so, who wants to put it together? I'm too lazy to start it, but I'll participate.

Is there a definitive collection of Beatles b-sides one could look for under a single title?

What Beatles B-sides are there? Haven't they all been absorbed into the discography at this point?

There is no singles/b-sides collection like with the Stones. All of the tracks that didn't make a UK album are on "Past Masters" & "Mono Masters". This includes various a-sides, b-sides & songs from compilation albums.

To compile a complete singles/b-sides collection, you would need:

- The Mono Box (for everything up to Don't Let Me Down)
- Abbey Road (for Something/Come Together)
- Let It Be (for Long & Winding Road/For You Blue)
- Past Masters 2 (for everything else)

Beatles is one of my favorite bands. I never get tired to listen their records, sometimes I listen them with some of the solo albums that could have been Beatles records if they didnt break up. This is my list of some fav songs and albums:
1. White Album: this album has too much to say, it has 45 years but it so good you don't feel it old, sound pretty fresh. I love the diversity in this album, songs like Back in the USSR, Helter Skelter, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Savoy Shuffle, Rocky Raccoon among others.
2. Abbey Road: in my opinion the last album a great swan song. This is a very fun record from start to finish. My favorites are Something, Abbey Road Medley, Maxwell Silver Hammer among others.
3. All Things Must Pass: George recorded this album in 1970, this album is like a compilation of the songs George wrote but they were rejected by the other Beatles. It's so profound, spiritual. My favorites songs are The Art of Dying, Isnt it a Pity, Wah Wah among others.
4. Past Masters: this is an actual compilation of b-sides, singles. My favorite songs She's a Woman, Lady Madonna, Old Brown Shoe among others.
5. Revolver: this album is so innovative, I have recently found out how great it is. Fav songs Love You To, And You Bird Can Sing, For No One among others.
6. Rubber Soul
7. Sgt Pepper

Sometimes I listen to the white album and think that it could have been their best one if it were only one disc.

I think the White Album would have been really weakened if they tried to cut it down by half, or close to it.
