Turns out Dave's song was Go after all.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

Release_Me wrote:There's nothing in that Wrigley performance which shows Ed struggling with LB. He pretty much nails everything except the outro where he goes off his game after getting mad at Mike. Singing high while 'straining' as you say is a stylistic choice. That gritty tone requires a certain amount of straining but LB is not the top of Ed's range. Ed's always done the gritty screams because they sound bad-ass and that goes with the style of most of PJ's rockers. Singing high in a clean voice is more metal, especially in the fifth octave. Ed has no issues going upto A4 (In Hiding, Present Tense, Yellow Ledbetter, etc.) in a clean voice. He has also sung a very clean and impressive Bb4 in a live version of Arc from 2009. So within the upper fourth octave, it's a stylistic choice. Not many PJ songs ever go higher than that anyway. An exception is the clean D5 in Dissident (studio) which I've heard him replicate live once in 2003 (that's a difficult one). When Ed screams 'Loooove' in LROM, that's pretty much near the top of his range. Those are also D5s, very powerful but gritty. It's a stylistic thing as well as a skill thing when he sings that high. He hasn't honed the skill of singing clean fifth octave notes ala Cornell, but he can sure as hell scream them.
I know this is from 5 pages ago but it's nice to hear a critique from someone who knows what they're talking about. More of this. I'm expecting a song by song review of the vocals on LB by the way.

This was unkind of you, especially considering I'm the President of the Make Harmless Write a Drum Review campaign.

Release_Me covers vox.
Harmless covers drums.
McP can do production.
Who's got the expertise to talk guitars/bass?

I've got Boom covered.

There's nothing wrong with it. John Holmes was great at porno. I didn't need him to do Shakespeare.

That's got to be hard to, you know, with his extreme height, large torso, and the size of his fingers and all.
