What movies are you watching?

Promising Young Woman. Really good, not great. Fun, pretty watch, but a little amateurish.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I liked it a lot too and will watch it again with wife soon. Just felt like it needed an extra layer or something. Missing something and I’m not clever enough to know what. Could’ve been really great.

I love Gyllenhaal but I turned it off after 10 minutes; I was intrigued by the one-actor drama aspect, usually love that stuff, but as soon as I saw a helicopter go past the screen and a building on fire in the first minute I knew it wouldn't be confident enough in that simplicity, and have to "pull you in" with standard action flick blah

it's just, you don't need that, you've got Gyllenhaal, just put him in a room with a great script

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (this was underwhelming on one viewing, but there were parts i really liked... though i am willing to consider thinking about the possibility of giving it another try)

just re-watched it and i'm not sure how i had Girl With the Dragon below Gone Girl...it's ahead of both it and The Game

as much as i don't want to go on a re-watch binge, i probably should for Fincher's stuff...though not much of it is on streaming right now

i'd be on board with like a spiritual successor, focused on different powerful protagonists in the industry and how social media has evolved and affects everyone/everything these days ... the subject doesn't really matter I just really like the tone and feel of social network.. give me more of that .. really well done

Is there serious discussion about a sequel?

Seems like a bad idea, mostly because they couldn’t take as many liberties with the story now. Zuck is so much more a known quantity, they’d either have to completely disregard reality or make a much more boring story…

Unless they focus less on Zuck and more on the other corporate leaders, coders, and maybe a few key users. Like a sprawling Traffic-like approach.

there was...a few hints here and there mostly. There is so much they could tackle but it was mostly about mark going to congress testifying about the Analytics disaster.
