Re: The Work-Out Thread
My problem with most CrossFit stuff is that it's so intense that it's not sustainable and therefore not really a lifestyle change that most people are going to stick with. Seems most people get burned out in a few months.

Haven't been in 10 days, but have cut down on caffeine and sugar dramatically.* Interestingly, my weight loss continues. Only 6 lbs from my high school senior year weight of 175 (@ 6'1" tall). The wife is very appreciative of my efforts.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
10 miles in 70 minutes
My son was up when I got up, so I ran with him in the running stroller. Navigating the blue hairs out for their morning walk/bike gets even trickier with the stroller. I thought about sending a few of them into the canal, but in the end, I just moved into the dirt and gravel. 36 out. Picked things up on the way back and made it home in 70. 34 back with a decent half-mile kick. I have come to the realization that as long as there is no wind, my times with the stroller should not really be much different than when I'm running without it. There's very little added resistance.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
We went to the Y for our first time tonight, we were planning on trying a little raquetball then we were either gonna go use some kinda cardio machine or maybe a little bit of weights, but we were both winded pretty quick with raquetball and after about a half hour we were done. I've lost everything i worked up to earlier this year, i was hoping the softball season would be enough to maintain my cardio but Im starting all over again. Im hoping to try and swim some laps this weekend and maybe get started back on a treadmill

That's my plan for the next few months, at least five yoga classes a week

Out the door at 2:30. Nice and cool. 35 out. 34 back. Still couldn't sleep when I got home. Fuck!
Tough run up to the T.V. broadcast towers on South Mountain tomorrow. That shit's gonna kick my ass.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Quick half mile last night then I hit the weights. I know that doesn't sound like much but doing a little cardio before weights instead of vice versa makes for a sweaty workout and it drains your legs that much quicker. My quads were on fire when I finished. Felt awesome though.

Hot Yoga (95 degrees and humid) with the Power Vinayassa flowHot is the way to go! It's really remarkable how that heat and humidity makes you feel after an hour long class. We joined the YMCA this week and they offer quite a few options but no Bikram/Hot classes which is a little disappointing. Hoping to get Doc to join me at the gentle class - he's never done it before so that should be a good place for him to start.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Awesome workout this morning. Weights followed by a mile and a half on the treadmill in under 17 minutes followed by five minutes of quick walking and a few upper body exercises. Sloppy joe sandwich for lunch and now to cut my grass and a couple other chores before the Ga/LSU game with some buddies.
Life is good today.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
14 miles with ~3,000 feet in elevation change in 1:49
I forgot that my century ride was schedule for Saturday, so late Friday, I had to switch gears and prep my bike. I must admit the thought of doing 100 miles on my fixed-gear ride was troubling. Luckily I got a call about 10 o'clock from my friend wanting to delay the ride a week. I happily agreed.
Hit South Mountain for the nasty run up to the T.V. towers. Saw a few other runners. Caught up to one of them, then we more or less raced up the mountain. He pulled ahead at one point, but I let him go, knowing his pace was too fast to carry him up to the top. Sure enough, he broke a few minutes later and was toast at about the midway point. I hoofed it in an attempt to get to the summit in under an hour, which I did. Up in 59. My legs kinda fell apart on the down and my form went to shit. I could feel that instead of leaning forward and going with gravity, I was giving in to the body's natural tendency to fight it. Down in 50. Happy to make it up in under an hour, but I really should have done the down in about 45 minutes or so. So I left kinda disappointed. Still, this is probably my third-best time for this run.

No. I typically don't run those kinds of races unless my nephews or wife wants me to run with them. I find them frustrating.Harry Lime wrote:Are you doing that zombie run on november 2nd, t2b?

They don't even time them. I wouldn't even have called it a race, really. At any rate, your fear of infection practically leaps off the page.....turned2black wrote:No. I typically don't run those kinds of races unless my nephews or wife wants me to run with them.
