You're not alone. That was my initial reaction too.

I'm still not sure why he held off...

Not sure, guess the family bond? Otherwise, I think he would have. I mean, Jack didn't care about the meth business anymore.

I can't imagine there is much of a family bond if he is willing to take him out to the dark and line him up in front of his goons and tease such a thing....

He must need him for something. Or for him to lure Lydia in and blow them all away.

I didn't interpret it as any sort of tease. Jack was pissed off that Jesse ratted Todd out, so he was on his way to kill him personally. Todd stopped him and pleaded with him to keep Jesse alive so they could keep the quality of the product up. I don't think Jack ever intended to kill Todd, or even to scare him. What kind of a moral code do you think these people have? They don't care about killing a kid.

I thought he would kill Todd because he was getting to close to Lydia or that Todd was becoming too much of a threat to being a meth kingpin....

As it was unfolding, I thought he might kill Jesse & Todd. Just loose ends that Jack didn't want.

This. And like someone else said, Todd already told Jack that story.

He left the child-murder part out of the story he told Uncle Jack.

Either way, I agree that Jack never intended to kill Todd.

How could you not see the tease? He walked him over with his arm around his neck, then walked back to where the rest of the gang was standing, leaving Todd looking at a firing squad. It's happened enough times in other movies to be plausible.

I know what you mean...though I think it was just a way to cause people to hyperventilate (so yeah, I guess a tease). I didn't cognitively think Jack was going to shoot him, but I do recognize that the way the scene was organized certainly gave it the latitude to go that way.

I also didn't think Jack was ever going to shoot Todd, but thinking back on it, I can see why some people got that impression.

Jack's smile/laugh right after Todd convinced him to keep the meth business going was hilarious.
