The problem with the very productive artists I know is that they all died/killed themselves. So I rather have an album every 3 or 4 years forever than 2 a year and then nothing. But if they can do it in a sane way, I would love them to just release everything they have regularly.
By the way, the 'songs' part of the review compilation is ready, so it can leak now as far as I'm concerned ;). http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtop ... =15&t=2122

groetjes,
Mirella :)

it's a sing songy delivery with some dirty music and dark lyrics. I love that contrast. The chorus is one of my favorite parts.
Yeah, I'm a sucker for a good hook and was singing along by the end of the first listen.

Vindicator wrote:My main problem with LTRP is that we waited 4 years for it. It's not the kind of song I look forward to or care to listen to from Pearl Jam. It's a decent song, nice bridge, some nice guitars, but overall, meh. I think almost none of Pearl Jam work can be considered generic, but if there was one, this would be it, if only for how closely it sticks to the blues rock genre. Not my style for PJ.

It's fine though, it will just this albums skipper for me. And it could have been worse.
I've found that some songs I don't really like or skip at first become favorites later. I'm trying not to write anything off until I live with the album for awhile. That being said, I actually like LTRP

Yeah. It reminds me of MiTS in this way.

Katy Perry's "Firework" contains the lyric:

"Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow..."

Pendulum and Infallible are both credited to Ament/Gossard/Vedder
Some lyrics from Infallible: By thinking we’re infallible/We are tempting fate instead
Some from Pendulum: Easy come and easy go/ Easy left me a long time ago
My Father's Son is Jeffs. Some lyrics from it : From the moment I fail/I call on DNA/Why such betrayal? /I gotta set sail

Can we trouble you to translate it?
i did some translate on it with google translate. it's not the best. but good enough to undertand what they are talking about. enjoy...

"Lightning Bolt" is not the disc that you can expect from Pearl Jam: "Mind your manners "and" Sirens "are not as representative of the variety of the album. That, in some ways, it's amazing.
should give a summary to Pearl Jam, and after a couple of records all in all "normal" they tried to move the cards on the table, leaving little 'from their royalties. A lot '.
Certainly, the "canon" is well represented: the title track is an example of rock "to the Pearl Jam" written, sung, played very well. The attack of "Getaway" is another rock straight, with great shot and great sounds, but very, very've heard. But even "Father's son" things change. And they change in a good part of the disc - with almost funk-rock of "Infallible", bluesaccio the (post) modern "Let the records play," the rarefied sounds of "Pendulum". It 'sa little hard on the performance linear, in some ways - certainly less than the previous ones. Now, in all this is a clear fact: Pearl Jam, have passed (by a lot 'of time) the peak of their production in the studio. The best thing that came out of their parties in the last decade, however, has made Eddie Vedder: the masterpiece of the soundtrack for "Into the Wild"; if they hear echoes here, too, in several songs: "Sleeping by myself "- engraved in" Ukulele Songs ", which also seems to be a song with the band solo singer. As well as the two final ballads "," Yellow Moon "and" Future Days. "
In short, "Lightning Bolt" is not the album that will make a miracle and is not comparable with the album "classics" of the band. But it's still a Mr. disc.
I recalled "No Line on the Horizon" by U2. Not because Pearl Jam audition to sound like Bono & co (God forbid) - but because that's where the band came from one of the disks more straight (and trivial) of his career, and had tried to change sounds and structure of a piece of songs, while remaining recognizable. "Lightning bolt" does a similar thing. It is not surprising levels of that masterpiece that was "No code", but it does its job with very good results. Time will tell if it is a record that remains. (Here, here you go really in detail: a small description song by song, the kind that make sense only for curiosity, given that this review comes with two good weeks in advance on ' album. Whether you right up there reading everything you are part really fan or enthusiast "borderline." Thank you.) "Lightning Bolt" - song by song. "Getaway" : traditional rock straight on the performance, all written by Vedder. Great sound of guitars - remember many things "classic" of the band - even too much - without the punk attitude of the individual. Vedder talk about finding a shelter: "It's ok / Sometimes you find yourself / Having to put all your faith / In no faith." "Mind your manners" : This already know. A punkettone beautiful but also all in all this fashion, a genre already often frequented in the past by the band, who has never made a secret of love for bands with X, Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion. "My father's son" : A strange rock , changes in the almost see-saw, or dominated by the bassline of Ament - who in fact wrote the music. Does not seem to be the PJ - and it is a great good - if not for the voice of Vedder. That tells a story of complicated relationships with their parents, from whose legacy we must free ("From the moment I fail / I call on DNA / Why longer available betrayal? / I gotta set sail"). "Sirens" : this too you know. I read about people who are madly in love and people who find it boring, comparing it to Nickelback (no joking, come on). A piece based on the 12-string acoustic and especially the interpretation to scream Vedder. Without him ... "Lightning Bolt" Written all over Vedder - as part of a mid tempo, reminiscent of many things already history of the band: the initial guitar riff seems a bit '"Wish list", but faster, then the song speeds up, and a lot, in the chorus, which is pure rock, great song, though this maybe a bit 'fashion - the first "title track" of the group's history. "Infallible" : Another piece on the performance strange, almost syncopation, written by Vedder with three hands Gossard and Ament, with a beautiful opening in the chorus. There is even used as the Tenori-on sequencing by Brendan O 'Brien - but almost not hear it. Vedder sings of human presumption: "By thinking we're infallible / We are tempting you instead" "Pendulum" Another song written three hands by Vedder / Gossard / Ament: a ballad sound, thin, layered with instruments almost gone. Even Vedder's voice, he turns away in the acute: he sings of the human condition, this time its continuous oscillations, like a pendulum, in fact: "Easy come and easy go / Easy left me a long time ago" "Swallowed whole" : electro-acoustic rock, reminds me a little 'moments of the previous album, a power-pop almost remmiano, with the 12-string electric that fits on acoustics, while Vedder sings of being part of something bigger, nature. " Let the records play " blues rock with distorted guitars between Neil Young and The Black Keys. Even here, trends and sounds that you expect from PJ. God is the DJ? "When the Kingdom Comes / He puts His records on / And With His blistered thumb hits play." "Sleeping by myself" : transformed into a folk rock with acoustic guitars - it sounds fuller (and better) than that of "Ukulele" songs "the only Vedder. The ukulele comes up again at the end, though. "Yellow Moon" A ballad quite traditional, based on an acoustic guitar on which to get the power - the band plays it safe. "Future Days" Another ballad that starts with the plan - then enters a guitar arpeggios, after even a violin. A song of love, the relationship between two people as redemption, in a passage that seems to come straight from the production of solo Eddie Vedder, could stand on its own disk

I'm a bit worried about Yellow Moon now. Apparently it's an inconsequential ballad.

I don't know how these can possibly be judged without YouTube representation.
