The movie works as is but there was so much left out (politics, the dinner, more clarity on Yueh's motivation, getting to know the citizenry, etc.). The dinner would've covered multiple bases but it likely would've felt off, tonally, with the rest of the movie as currently structured.

GIVE ME THE SNYDER-NEUVE CUT, DENIS!

Should've made him Fenring.
As someone who never read the book....the movie did not need this stuff. It was still quite crystal clear and enjoyable

Oh, I agree with the exception of the deleted Yueh scene; I enjoyed it as-is. But I do think non-book-readers would've enjoyed the entirety of the narrative pieces in series form.

If I hadn’t watched the David lynch version and felt lost enough to look up some of the lore, I wouldn’t have appreciated the exposition. However, they weren’t super clear about the messiah prophecy beyond the doctor talking to herself about Paul.

I say he was good. I've watched the movie three times now and it's been incrementally better each time. It sorely needs 30-40 more minutes (which apparently exists based on what I've seen of the deleted scenes and the fact Villeneuve had a 5-hour cut at one point).

Me too buddy.

He played the reluctant skeptical hero very well. Then it all popped during the fight scene. Oh baby

I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
