The TV in my bedroom finally crapped out and we need to get a new one.

I don't see what would exclude The Sopranos from being considered a fully realized masterwork.

I would tend to agree. But I've still got some real gaps in my experience (Deadwood, Sopranos, The Wire, West Wing, etc)
The Wire is close, but Mad Men is pretty close to flawless.

I need to give Mad Men another go. I had trouble connecting with the characters and the plot always seemed too low stakes to really generate any tension. It was well written and beautifully shot, but I never really felt like it was going anywhere.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I was always afraid to express that opinion. Thank you all for your support.

I've drafted like three response to this, because it is a really tough call. The closest I can come is something to do with the tone and the humor of the first few seasons and there are moments and storylines that occasionally feel like a stretch. Plus, Many Saints of Newark, haha. No, but, idk. I guess I don't know what a "fully realized masterwork" even is.

If I remember right Joe isn’t a fan of westerns but if there is any show that could change his mind it’s gotta be Deadwood right? It’s perfect. Might be time for me to watch it again.

I haven't seen that show either. But I'm a big TO fan. I've been meaning to check it out for years. Is it really a western, though?

No. It is not. It’s a top five all-time show, tho. I keep telling the wife I’m ready for a re-watch, but she keeps telling me it’s not been long enough yet.
