Fuck yeah.

Also in the John Candy subgenre goes Who’s Harry Crumb? and The Great Outdoors. Uncle Buck is good and the biggest hit, but I prefer all 3 I’ve mentioned to it.
Did you ever see Delirious?
Fuck yeah, I have. Forgot it, dammit. I prefer it to Uncle Buck, as well.

I love Delirious (and Crumb and Great Outdoors, too). Our COVID pod watched Delirious last year. I was the only one among us who had seen it. They all HATED it so much. :haha:

It still cracked me up, though.

not sure it's the funniest movie of all time, but i don't think I've ever laughed as hard as i did the first time i saw Ace Ventura in the theater. The freaking tutu scene almost caused me to piss my pants i was laughing so hard.

The hardest I ever laughed in a theater was the Jim Carrey taking over Steve Carell during the live broadcast scene of Bruce Almighty.

The hardest I've ever laughed in a theater was probably There's Something About Mary, but I was a lot younger. I'm not sure if that movie or I have held up well.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

You've leapt a little there, bud. I never said it was a hilarious film I just mentioned that it was the last time I remember laughing out loud.

Amazing manipulation by both director and editor in that film.

Now, would you like to talk about The Idiots?

edit: For clarification, both Happiness and The Idiots were painful to watch.

I don't really find Jim Carey or Will Ferrell funny. In fact, most of the films mentioned in this thread I didn't enjoy.

Stripes was good but I was a kid when I saw that last.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I'm not sure the problem is the movies, LMS.

I don't agree with most of your picks, LMS, but I'm glad you thought of some. It's good to know you've laughed since 1998.
