Re: Anybody want a Corona?
Here is a cool thing that totally makes sense:
We went to a kids birthday party today at a place called Pump It Up. For those unfamiliar, it’s like a warehouse full of huge inflatable bouncy houses.
Anyway everyone has to wear masks in these massive wide open rooms with 50’ ceilings. I mean these rooms are damn near the size of basketball gym and there’s only like 20 people there including kids.
And then you know what? We all cram into a little room down the hall for cake and juice and that’s when the masks come off.

A different take I saw was that they are preaching to the choir (we have a decent idea of the demographic that has their kids watch Caillou). I don't think thats quite right either.McParadigm wrote:

Just wait until they address climate change. It’s going to be all stick and no carrot. The only real carrot will be rebates on $70k+ electric cars. Reward the rich and punish the masses.Bi_3 wrote:This could apply to so much…

Are you assuming here that every electric car is over $70k still? Cuz that’s changing fast.surfndestroy wrote:Just wait until they address climate change. It’s going to be all stick and no carrot. You can get a Tesla for under $30k, and Ford’s coming out with an affordable electric F150 if you need to compensate.Bammer wrote:Yeah man you can get one of these and it will definitely suit your needsspike wrote:Are you assuming here that every electric car is over $70k still? Re: Anybody want a Corona?
You can get a Tesla for under 30K? Are you talking about a used Tesla or the price point they targeted but couldn't actually make for the Tesla 3? Sure, they are at almost 40K for the basic model with none of the features anyone wants.spike wrote:You can get a Tesla for under $30k, and Ford’s coming out with an affordable electric F150 if you need to compensate.Bammer wrote:Yeah man you can get one of these and it will definitely suit your needsspike wrote:Are you assuming here that every electric car is over $70k still? You can get a Chevy Bolt with recalled spontaneously combusting battery packs for just over 30k as well
I don't want anything I drive to include over cell radio/ wifi updates.
No beef with electric cars, but I don't want to purchase an Automobile as a service, and that appears to be the industry future.

off topic, but I am surprised this isn't a more mainstream discussion point. Like how many Tesla drivers complain about Facebook 'spying' without connecting the dots?simple schoolboy wrote: No beef with electric cars, but I don't want to purchase an Automobile as a service, and that appears to be the industry future.

I think that’s pretty different. You know you are being tracked and profiled when you have a smart phone. Connected cars, which are computers that happen to do something else, unlike cars 10-12 years ago, are something people dont think about in the same way and don’t have the same regulatory scrutiny. It hasn’t clicked that just like you can enable self-driving remotely and unlock your car remotely across the internet, the manufacturer can do other things as well. Tesla could lock your car from going over 55 if they wanted to and force you to buy the “speeding service” to unlock it
