Was just about to post that she's like a natural James brown/Michael Jackson hybrid. Then I saw that clip of i want you back.

Jeepers. She's great!

I've grabbed electric lady. Good place to start?

I was enthusing about her to My boyfriend last night. He simply said 'it'll be nice to listen to something else'

Guess I've been playing Pj a lot.

Yeah, I'm listening to The Electric Lady now. Two of the Jools Holland songs are from there. I've not heard The Archandroid yet, aside from a couple of singles.

The "Electric Lady" chorus is sublime. I love where that melody goes.

Ok the only thing losing Me here is the obligatory rap bit in each song.

Other than that

It's not obligatory. She's good at it and the lyrics are a cut above what the usual obligatory rap would be. You don't hear "I'm Janelle Monae and I'm here to stay" even once.

I had this realisation when everyone started raving about Mastodon and I realised I saw them play on the same stage as Pearl Jam at Reading Festival, 2006. I enjoyed the gig but had no idea who they were. I also saw Slayer but couldn't care less... a lot of people are angry at me about that.

That snare fill sample in "Victory" is very Lauryn Hill.

Will there be a better slow jam written this year than "What an Experience"?
