Re: Janelle Monáe
Was just about to post that she's like a natural James brown/Michael Jackson hybrid. Then I saw that clip of i want you back.
Jeepers. She's great!

I've grabbed electric lady. Good place to start?
I was enthusing about her to My boyfriend last night. He simply said 'it'll be nice to listen to something else'
Guess I've been playing Pj a lot.

Yeah, I'm listening to The Electric Lady now. Two of the Jools Holland songs are from there. I've not heard The Archandroid yet, aside from a couple of singles.

The "Electric Lady" chorus is sublime. I love where that melody goes.

Ok the only thing losing Me here is the obligatory rap bit in each song.

Re: Janelle Monáe
It's not obligatory. She's good at it and the lyrics are a cut above what the usual obligatory rap would be. You don't hear "I'm Janelle Monae and I'm here to stay" even once.

Re: Janelle Monáe
I had this realisation when everyone started raving about Mastodon and I realised I saw them play on the same stage as Pearl Jam at Reading Festival, 2006. I enjoyed the gig but had no idea who they were. I also saw Slayer but couldn't care less... a lot of people are angry at me about that.dimejinky99 wrote:Well fuck me and fuck recreational drugs.

That snare fill sample in "Victory" is very Lauryn Hill.
