I don't even like Of the Earth very much, and I'd go for this.
Which one? Both  ? Pt.1 pt.2....

But yeah, it really does seem like it'd suit album more than ltrp.

Is that an Archer reference? If so, it just kicked my appreciation for this thread through the roof!

Yuuuuup! Its fun talking about and reading other peoples reactions to what we have heard of Lightning Bolt. Plus, some of you are downright loony...which provides me with good company. 8-)

OK, I watched the EPK again and enjoyed it more than I have before. The most annoying part is when Ed says songwriting is an "arduous process; I go at it every waking hour and maybe a few while I'm sleeping." And I'm just not sure I believe his songwriting lately has been arduous. Wasn't he saying during Backspacer that if it starts to feel like homework and takes more than 5 minutes he's not interested?

backspacer was 5 years ago. I am sure he has a thousand other songs he has worked on, thought about, recorded in some fashion since.

Another thing suggesting that his "aesthetic" changes with each album, maybe? That's probably a good thing. The arduous process he's talking about may be changing it up, making sure the music-making doesn't get stale. I'm sure that's getting harder and harder as they get older.

Yeah I know. Check my next post. I'm not 100% sure you change your feelings about that so much in such a short time, though. I mean, my thoughts about playing the drums have been virtually the same since I was a teenager. But as I say, maybe it's not writing the songs as much as staying interested. That's where the work's put in maybe.

Yea, someone needs to track down that interview from SA 2011 he did where he talks about the songwriting process again. He discusses his approach on backspacer ws different and how he believes it may not always yield the best results.
