Speaking to Empire in the November issue, on sale Thursday 1 October, the creator (and voice) of Paulie’s robot offered his thoughts on the android-free cut. “I was in my office when I found out,” says Robert Doornick, founder of International Robotics. “I was deluged with messages: ‘How can Stallone do that?’ But I know why he’s doing it, because I know he loves the robot. By causing turmoil among the fans of Sico, it generates more publicity. And by removing the robot from the movie, it saves money in royalty fees, because he is a member of the Screen Actors Guild. Sico receives cheques all the time – and of course he sends them over to me.”

Last night I watched The House of the Devil. It had a cool feel to it and I liked the slow burn, but the actual payoff was a little lackluster.

Still, it was an enjoyable watch.

I loved the payoff, although she got away a little too easily. I did like that she was pregnant at the end.

Fuck. Shocked that I liked an Edgar Wright movie this much. Loved the fludity of the editing (didn't feel showy here like it did in Baby Driver and more appropriately in service of its subject matter). It's a dorkier take on Argento, De Palma, and Hitchcock, but done really well. It's also a bit frustrating because I was enjoying the hell out of it and there were moments when I legitimately thought it was going to be my favorite movie of the year, but then the way the plot unfurled undermined a lot of what I was enjoying about it. Not badly executed, just a story decision that made me wince in disappointment. But overall I really, really liked it, even with its flaws

I saw it on Saturday as well - there were only 2 other people at my showing, which was awesome. My first theater experience since Rise of Skywalker in December 2019. I guessed one of the two twists, and I'm usually not good at that kind of thing. The first two thirds of the movie was pretty flawless, but the more it turned into a horror film, the less I enjoyed it. The faceless ghosts were used way too much. All of the 60s stuff was amazing though - the music, the scenery, and the design. And Anya Taylor Joy is such a presence on screen.

So far I've only really enjoyed Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Kinda like how I only like Sarah Michelle Gellar when she's Buffy.

I’ve not seen either of the Creed movies.

I just watched the second one on the plane. It was good, though predictable. The fight scenes were really well done, you could feel the weight of every punch. Great performances from the entire cast, and it was super fun seeing Dolph back as Drago
