That's the popular theory.

Is it such a popular theory that it won't be a surprise if it is the big reveal?

I barely follow this stuff but it's such a prevailing theory even in my limited circle that I think no one is thinking of it as a twist or reveal at all.

People predicting "it's mephisto" is the same as dime predicting the date of the Obi-Wan trailer.

They're wrong.
They're wrong.
They're wrong.
They're wrong.
They're wrong.
They're wrong.
They're wrong.
They're wrong.
It happens.
"Look! I was totally right!"
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Doesn't it seem kind of lazy to have two straight Spider-Man films where Spidey gets duped by a villian that manipulates time/space/appearances?

I don't think so, no. But I tend to bristle at the lazy critique in general. So...

Ok, maybe not lazy, but unoriginal? Isn't Peter supposed to be extremely intelligent, albeit a bit naïve?

I haven't seen Far From Home so I feel like I'm not the best person to weigh in on this. Not to mention that none of us have seen the new one. Probably best to wait and see the movies before I get too committed to a take.
