Im serious. Like, just eat veggies and beans. There are thousands of combinations of these foods that are mindblowing. I eat vegetarian (often times completely vegan) quite often but this whole trying to replace an actual burger, or tuna, or whatever the fuck trip they are on each week is angering. Dumb.

Just be a vegetarian. Stop trying to make it more exciting than it is.

I'll reply to this more seriously. First: the difference between 'vegetarian' and 'vegan' is not how much one talk about a thing or if one tries to replicate the look and texture and taste of meat with plants. Vegetarians don't eat meat. Vegans don't eat any animal products. So, no meat but also no dairy or eggs basically. Vegan does not mean anything beyond that. This seems obvious but your post kind of made it seem like you didn't understand that so that's why I wanted to clarify.
Second, food is not just about delivering calories and providing energy. It's cultural, it's emotional. So, yeah, a watermelon tuna is dumb and funny to laugh at. But "just eat veggies and beans" is not fair, either. People grow up eating certain types of food. Having something (even if it is made of beans) that is shaped like a burger and served on a bun with ketchup and tomatoes fulfills that cultural/emotional craving that people have (because they've been eating burgers their whole life) that goes beyond a simple satiating of hunger. One can eat tofu cut into cubes with a nice sauce and some veggies and have a nice meal with good protein content. But, sometimes, at the summer barbecue, one wants to buy the tofu that is shaped and seasoned to look and taste like a hot dog that they can put on a bun and eat with ketchup. Food is more than just fuel. Have some kindness and try to relax. I think maybe the red meat is spiking your blood pressure or something, breathe....
