I have a not so secret theory that way less singers become caricatures of themselves when they get older than people claim. It's actually just an easy, lazy accusation to throw at any big name singers.

Same with songs, imo. "Pearl Jam trying to be Pearl Jam" is either Pearl Jam just not sounding very good anymore, or Pearl Jam trying to do something different.
A lot of people don't understand the difference between something just not being very inspired or good versus being derivative.
Yup.

I actually agree with this.

Would you go for something like this?:

Seriously, Getaway sounds like a pretty fun song and I think its just fine for Ed to have fun listening to it. Its okay to enjoy the songs you write.

Wow. That's just terrible.
This is sped up to make it look more ridiculous than it really is.

If I make a drawing that I think is great I have no problem letting my feelings show.

It's not all that bad in context, and I've been corrected: it's Ed being spontaneously goofy, which is fine. I thought it was planned.

It really isn't in context of the film. Just a fun little moment for a fun, up tempo song to leave the viewer on a high.

By the way, to reiterate, my reaction to it was nothing to do with Ed being happy about his song. I don't want the guy to die in a ditch or anything.

I'm glad he can get into listening to his own music with other people around. I personally find it to be kind of uncomfortable from experience, so good for him.

Probably helps that he's also technically enjoying the music of 4 or 5 other people. And he's obviously pretty comfortable around Danny Clinch. Plus, the levity comes from Clinch accidentally turning it on quite loud. Then they literally do this little jig in the clip then just sit there bobbing their heads.

Guys, you're all making me feel pretty bad right now. Ed is like my dad by now; we've spent 23 distanced years together. If he dances in front of me I have a right to feel embarrassed.

And the rest of us are like all his adult friends who don't get your strange teenaged embarrassment because we've been at the sherry.

He looks seriously furious at social injustice.
