Bands you know you'd love if you just explored them more

Post by Jorge »

As far as musical blind spots, like in terms of artists I am pretty sure I would fucking love if I put in the effort to dive into their discography, which in some cases I've been telling myself I'll do for well over a decade, a pretty big one is Siouxsie and the Banshees. I love "Dazzle" something fierce, but that's one of like 3 songs of theirs I know by name

I'm sure a version of this thread has been made before but I couldn't find one in the 45 seconds I spent searching for it, so

I love Siouxsie‘s cover of Dear Prudence.

I know all the big INXS singles but the only one I really like is "Don't Change"

I was going to say The Who, but if it was meant to be it'd probably have happened by now. Entwistle and Moon are a tour de force, but I just don't find Daltry or Townsend particularly interesting.

I'll say John Cale and Paul Simon. Both have individual albums that are among my favorites ever (Fragments of A Rainy Season and Graceland, respectively), but for some reason I've never felt compelled to explore either artist further (apart from some general familiarity with Simon and Garfunkel).

I also really need to listen to more Mingus.

This, plus I need more time with The War on Drugs and Kurt Vile. Wilco. I am sure there’s a boatload more. Tom Waits, Elvis Costello.

I got to Mingus the same way I got to many of my classic jazz favs (EC) so I've no doubt you'd enjoy most his stuff. You listen to Black Saint & The Sinner Lady?

Yes, I own Black Saint and the Sinner Lady and his Ken Burns Jazz compilation. They're both great. Not sure why I've never gone deeper.
