Re: And We Are All Together / The Beatles Thread
I've been on an Octopus's Garden binge for the last few days. Seeing George and Ringo working on it on acoustic guitar and piano brought out a melancholy dimension I'd never picked up on before. Been trying to find a cover on Spotify that captures it, but it's all kids music.

Re: And We Are All Together / The Beatles Thread
This looks great i'm going to give it a try....and i never considered Don't Let Me Down & Ballad because they had been released as singles before but i guess there is precedent for that happening so they should be fair game.

Re: And We Are All Together / The Beatles Thread
Yeah, it's a sort of thought experiment that considers the Beatles never breaking up and going straight into another record after Abbey Road (so some of those songs were never released as singles). I totally get not wanting to include them, though. I struggled with that, too.

Paul and John would never green light this: too many Harrison contributions.Thurman Murman wrote:My first pass at that 1970/71 "Lost Album"...sorry Starkey!

Yeah, I was thinking that IF you wanted to go for a more realistic album, you should drop one Harrison and add in a Ringo song. But I still think it's a solid "lost album" as is. Good work.

Ringo actually has a bunch of good solo songs to choose from.

Jealous Guy puts all those other songs to shame.

Re: And We Are All Together / The Beatles Thread
You guys should end that mix with You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)
Tie it all together with a little fun and unity. It'd be an ironic tearjerker after God.
Also Maybe I'm Amazed>Jealous Guy

Re: And We Are All Together / The Beatles Thread
I read somewhere that a month or so prior to John leaving the band both he and George approached Paul suggesting the songwriting share going forward. So if that was the case at least John was for it...Paul not so much. But this album was created out of the fantasy that Paul said yes and the band had at least one more album in them.Chris_H_2 wrote:

Re: And We Are All Together / The Beatles Thread
I definitely need to find one Ringo song to add to the playlist but i can't part with those Harrison songs. I get the internal band politics but for me George had the best material at the time.epilogue wrote:Yeah, I was thinking that IF you wanted to go for a more realistic album, you should drop one Harrison and add in a Ringo song.
