The action kinda sucks, too digital.

Both Keanu and Carrie Ann look amazing tough.
Spoiler: show

I liked it, enjoyed the meta stuff and the commentary on our society in the 20 years since OG. We’re basically living in the analyst’s world. Would have liked more Merv but maybe that woulda been a deeper cut than they wanted to go for this movie, especially seeing as ppl for some reason seem confused about what they saw in this one. *shrug*

Or satire at least? If so, it’s pretty good.

If anyone involved in this movie leans into it being a satire, I give up.

It was more fun than two and three. The first one was also fun… return to form!

there is a satire element for sure. I think its the best thing in the new movie, and the seriousness of two and three were the worst thing in the OT.

Again, i would say the new one is better than Revelations. Ill might wat reloaded soon. I would be susprised if i liked the new one better too.

So i watched again and i liked it better the second time. Definitely more happening than i originally thought. I still think the Smith arc is kind of pointless

In spite of myself I was actually on board with this at first. It was playing with some interesting ideas and going in unexpected places, but it got dumber and dumber as it went, limping to the finish line with some lame power-of-love and girlpower bullshit. They really didn't know where to go with it. A lot of half finished ideas and poor pacing (but not nearly as bad as the other sequels.)
Spoiler: show
- I was expecting a coked out video game cut scene of a movie (like all the other wachowski movies after The Matrix), but it was refreshingly kinda grounded. When it really needed to take off though, it didn't.

- if you're gonna make the movie about Trinity, make the movie about Trinity. Instead she shows up late in the movie, and without much coaxing decides she wants to be a cyber ninja instead of a wife and mother to 3 kids, then beats up everyone. Yawn. It's hilariously anti mother though.

- they really should have showed her murdering her children after they get turned into swarm bots.

- once again the Zion/Io cast is a waste of space.

-new Morpheus was cool but new Smith sucked
Baudrillard is still not impressed.

Yes, the most cowardly thing about this movie is that
Spoiler: show
nothing happens with the kid. Trinity punches the Analyst in the final scene in the apartment beacuse "that's for using kids". But nothing happens in the moment, when Tiffany becomes Trinity and the husband turns against her. The kids are just ignored. It isn't even made clear if the kids are bots or real people. A cowardly movie would have made them bots that she then smashes. A movie with guts would have made them people who are scared and confused that their mother just killed their dad and doesn't love them anymore. But this movie does nothing!

Watched this last night. It was fine I guess, although I'm still not sure it needed to exist. I'll have completely forgotten it in a week or two

they'll just reprogram the kids to have another mother, whether they're pod humans or programs. there aren't any real stakes inside the matrix... you guys get that, right?

Spoiler: show
yeah she just has years of experience birthing and raising 3 kids, but fuck it right? She can just forget them in an instant. They can just be reprogrammed. And who cares about the few minutes of abject horror inflicted on real kids if they'll just be reprogrammed later, huh?
