I'm still trying to decide if I like this band. There is no doubt many of their songs are catchy as hell, but their lyrics are cheesy and all the influences they bring to the table generally just make me wish I was listening to one of those bands instead of this one.

I generally like them, but I agree that their lyrics can be cheesy in places. Plus, any time I listen to them live on Youtube or etc..., they don't sound nearly as great.

Changing of the Guards is one of my favorite Dylan songs, and was the one song I knew I wanted to do in the covers contest, until I heard Gaslight's take on it. Though I wish they'd worked to prep, practice, and scheme it a little better, they just really wound it up with that "almost an homage to Thin Lizzy" take on the song.

The thing that for me, unfortunately, they have in common with Pearl Jam, is that their last albums were such a disappointment compared to what they did before that, that I wonder if they still have it in them. I still absolutely love The '59 Sound though.
And I also really really like the cover of Changing of the Guards

I have decided that I like these guys. The '59 Sound and Handwritten are my favorites. Going to see them in April.

I like these guys. To me, they sound more like Springsteen and Social Distortion had a baby, but the Pearl Jam influence is there. I loved Handwritten and the 59 Sound. Really liked both Sink or Swim and American Slang (a lot of people hate this album, but I think it is pretty solid all in all). I haven't seen them live yet, so I can't say for sure, but I can't see them as a band I would follow in the same vein as say a Springsteen or Pearl Jam, but mostly because I haven't found myself as drawn to their albums as these other two.

Saw these guys in Cleveland a few nights ago for the first time. They were good, but were pretty much what I expected (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Would have enjoyed it more if they were playing in a better venue and not the miserable House of Blues.

But getting to see the Bouncing Souls too was a big plus!

I'm seeing them soon as well. How was the singer's voice? I've seen clips where he sounds really good and others where he sounds terrible.

From what I could hear he sounded good. I'm not sure if the main mic was too low or if the sound in the Cleveland House of Blues is incredibly poor (I'll say the latter as I've had a hard time hearing other lead singers as their voices get drowned out by the rest of the band. Couldn't even hear much of what he was saying between songs).

TGA are a fun band. Not overly deep, not amazing but just a fun time live.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

It took me a while to warm to Handwritten, but eventually I did. My opinion of Handwritten changed more with multiple listens and familiarity then any other album I bought in 2012. I have grown to enjoy the album very much and would now place it in my 5-10 favorite new releases of 2012. On my first couple listens it wouldn't have cracked my top 20.

I like Handwritten a lot. The entire record is full of good catchy songs.... just like the 2 that came before it. Not that it's a problem but I would really like to see them try something a little different on the next one.

Funny you mention that. I believe that in a recent interview, Brian Fallon said he expected their next album to be "their No Code." I think this is what he meant.
