Recents:

Silent Night (bad, dull)
Don't Look Up (fine, light and obvious but fun)
Being The Ricardos (shockingly interesting as a meditation on artistry, but the McCarthy stuff sucks ass and it's Sorkin liberalism all the way down)

Cmon, Cmon

There is a better movie lost in this one...its just too long. I think It believes its super smart and deep and that hurts the movie. But there are some touching moments and a really nice black and white photography.

Also, its cool to see Phoenix as a normal human being for once.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I think i saw 20 minutes of that one...i have to go back to it.

Yeah, it seems he takes super seriously and this one is not as meaningful he think it is. but its still a beauty to watch and have some good moments.

I would have cut 25 minutes out of it, and it would be better.

I'm having trouble convincing myself to go see Nightmare Alley this week, but I'd really like to go to the theater.

How about Licorice Pizza or Spider-Man? (You might also like Nightmare Alley, it isn't bad)

I did just see Licorice Pizza is showing at the theater across town, so yeah I should hit it up. I have a free pass to the one near me that has to be used by the end of the year, so I'd like to use it. I'm too far behind on Marvel and the Spider-man's so Nightmare Alley it would have to be.

Thank you for the encouragement. I have all week off work and zero plans, so I really have no excuse.
