I can see the argument for that being intentional and part of the overbearing point. But it was poorly done. I think it was just move the story along rather than any intention

nothing happens with the kid. Trinity punches the Analyst in the final scene in the apartment beacuse "that's for using kids". But nothing happens in the moment, when Tiffany becomes Trinity and the husband turns against her. The kids are just ignored. It isn't even made clear if the kids are bots or real people. A cowardly movie would have made them bots that she then smashes. A movie with guts would have made them people who are scared and confused that their mother just killed their dad and doesn't love them anymore. But this movie does nothing!

they'll just reprogram the kids to have another mother, whether they're pod humans or programs. there aren't any real stakes inside the matrix... you guys get that, right?

yeah she just has years of experience birthing and raising 3 kids, but fuck it right? She can just forget them in an instant. They can just be reprogrammed. And who cares about the few minutes of abject horror inflicted on real kids if they'll just be reprogrammed later, huh?

And from the kids' point of view (assuming they're kids) wouldn't that be some necessary shit to cover? It seems like it's pretty fucking necessary to me! Yet they are comically disappeared from the movie instantly.

I assume they were bots, and that the studio was like "ok no, Wachowski, you can't have Trinity karate chop the children in half, you sociopath!" So they just cut them from the movie. That was funny.
