“Inspired to write quick”Strat wrote:That's wonderful and im sure super emotional for him.
This part though had me lol "“We were still in semi lockdown, so people were energised to create,” says Vedder. “I was inspired to write quick. Everything was sounding great, and his ability to mix and have everything be loud… It was just a new adventure, and it was inspiring.”"
Ed sure likes it LOUD. That's all he cares about! He's still like a teenager.
“Have everything be loud”
A new adventure, indeed.

I hate the production on the songs. Its super poppy gloss.
That being said - This song is much more interesting of an EV composition than the other two. A bit more going on musically for sure! I like it.

Bridge is wild and outro is fantastic. Song takes a couple interesting turns.

You more or less nailed it.Jorge wrote:He was my brother

And for a spell in the 90s
he had a really thin mustache,
the kind that made him look
a bit like John Waters

Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
We're 3 songs in, and I haven't liked any of them on first listen. Repeat listenings help me tolerate them.
I am disappointed.

I think Ed's lying about writing.
He found a box of Olivia and Harper's fourth grade poems, and he's trying to make it work.

the outro could've saved it, if not for those lyrics

Two wins, one loss so far. Still can't get behind the Haves, not my cup of tea.
Brother the Cloud is pretty fun though. The ending "fuck yous" kinda remind me of 4/20/2002.
Long Way is tops musically though. The live version is pretty great. Say what you want about the production but Andrew Watt is rocking out playing the lead at the end of the live video. You can tell the guy is having a blast.

There are moments when the music invokes London Calling, and the lyrics invoke Kraft American Singles.
