Eddie Vedder - Earthling

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

They teased a new single, coming out 1/28, on an IG live stream yesterday. There’s a Painted Shield Thread in “Other Bands” that’s discussing. The audio quality is poor, especially on vocals, but the band sounds great on it.
hot damn.... The Riffmeister is back!! While Eddie's is distracting the fanbase witg so-so songs Stone is killing it. Haven't seen this Stone PJ in a long long time...

Hm, not sure about this. I really like the verse melody and chorus sections. But, the bridge feels really forced. And, the outtro lyrics get quite annoying by the end of the song. Could be a fun one live though.

Still a much better song than The Haves.

I like this one the most of the 3 singles so far. I strongly dislike The Haves. I like Long Way, especially the lovely verse, but the chorus is annoying AF. Brother the Cloud is the opposite; love the chorus, but the it's the verse that's mediocre and feels out of place. I actually like the bridge that comes out of nowhere, and I really like how Eddie sings that. Very different than what he usually does. It's the verse that feels shoehorned in, like he realized the song requires a verse so I'll throw this in. The outro feels more like a Pearl Jam song and gives me some Riot Act vibes for some reason.

This is definitely one he'll make the full band play at PJ shows in the future.

Its okay

ranking:
Brother the Cloud
Long Way
The Haves

Maybe I just don't really like eddies music anymore. Lyrically so big yet I just don't connect or feel it.

Didn't realize this was released yet. In meetings and can't listen yet.

I am disappointed in the lyrics of the first two releases, especially because I think his writing on Gigaton is generally great, some of his best overall.

I liked what I heard of the lyrics on this song. Especially the “I’m wide awake” part leading right into the outro.

Just had a first listen. For me, it's by far the most interesting of the three we've gotten and seems like it has room to grow on me. Didn't watch the lyric video, so haven't fully processed all of that.

I think I caught the moment that made someone say "Puzzles & Games" in an earlier comment.

I think it finishes stronger than it begins, which is how I'd prefer something that's a bit uneven.

It reminds me of WES/SBWM in the way it meanders and shapeshifts a bit. Feels related to those two in that way to me.

I guess I feel fortunate to not care much for lyrics... The music is pretty great and the vocal melodies are nice.

Really good song.
