LTRP is significantly better (I think) than Big Wave and Supersonic--the two tracks it makes the most sense to compare it to.

Why does it make sense to compare it to "Big Wave"?

And I don't think it's better than "Big Wave". Probably better than "Supersonic".

We won't know until we have the album, but I'm guessing because of the "obligatory fun song / worst song on the album" function it's going to have.

If I have time to listen to one song before I, say, head into the office, I'd rather listen to Corduroy than Big Wave.

I agree that they don't have to be. I wouldn't have compared the two but I get they are both supposed to be "fun" songs so that's why they are getting grouped.
