Ha, I'd totally forgotten about this game but I LOVED the Amiga.

Yeah, I do think it enhances the song. It would be weaker if his voice was clean.

I get the ZZ Top comparison with LTRP, but it sounds more like something Tom Petty would do to me..... Especially with those lyrics.

That being said I really enjoy it for what it is.

Actually, I'm enjoying all of the new songs, and Backspacer was my least favorite of all their albums..... Followed by ST. I don't know if these are that much better, or I'm just getting used to the stuff they're putting out now.

A bit of both, I think.

Remember how unabashedly cool we thought this album was going to be based on the tour video and artwork?

It's slightly lower on that scale, buddy.

I guess the question sounded more like a dig than it was.

I haven't lost any zeal for the end product. Curious why it has for you.

Yeah, I think it's definitely a bit of both. This stuff is better than what we've gotten since 2006, but that's because they're getting better at doing these new kinds of things, not because they're really reaching back to a time when the songs were "better" in general.

I think there is a wide gulf between "cool" and "not cool". And music isn't made better by being cooler anyway, so my question wasn't a dig as much as a tongue-in-cheek comment. Based on the tour video, it was reasonable to expect a metal album. Whatever you feel about the music we have, there's absolutely no question that it isn't what we were led to believe it might be. I adjusted my expectations accordingly as soon as I heard the leak. So "cool" isn't good, "uncool" isn't an insult. I just hoped for no pop songs this time initially.
