I'm only two episodes in but I'm liking it a lot so far. Really makes me want to re-read the book. :heartbeat:

I'd at the very least slot this behind Hacks, The Flight Attendant, White Lotus, Mare, and the new seasons of Succession and Hanna. In a more rigorous accounting I think it would struggle to hit the top 10. Something about it just didn't click for me, and I think it has to do with how the series handles time.

Ranking this below the Flight Attendant is madness, but I can see why this particular show doesn't fully connect with everyone.

I haven't seen White Lotus yet.

Flight Attendant was fun to watch. Large stretches of this were exceedingly dull.

Is it that the world ended, and half the survivors are self-righteous actors who just travel around the Great Lakes performing Shakespeare like people give a fuck?
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

If I survive the end of the world I will 100% do Shakespeare plays, and I won't give a fuck if anyone gives a fuck about that.

I actually thought the way the show (and presumably book) stage the issue of how cultural expression is mediated by social collapse really interesting. I find it totally plausible that some people might be like "let's maintain the HEIGHTS of culture" and others might be like "I'm founding a new religion based on a comic book."

The end was EXCEEDINGLY precious though.

Maybe i loved it because i had 0 expectations and i watched it relaxed and with time, but i ultimately loved every episode and kinda cemented on how much i love Mackenzie Davis.

Episode 3 might be one of the best single episodes of TV I've seen. It ranks up there with some of my all time favorites.
