Well, at the risk of over-explaining while over-simplifying: COVID restrictions in Australia are very much a state-by-state proposition, the responsibility for these resting with each state's premier (the rough equivalent of a state governor in the US context). This has effectively nothing to do with Scott Morrison, the federal prime minister.
Notwithstanding what gets reported internationally, each Australian state and territory has imposed notably different restrictions during the pandemic.
Boss wants to go on a work trip to CA the week after next for something not urgent or a big deal. My co-worker and I are sure it's mainly to get away from drama in her home. Due to Covid she said she isn't pressuring me to go if i'm uncomfortable. The last thing I want to do is go on this trip for a multitude of reasons, but she probably does want me to go. I haven't confirmed my decision yet, but I don't really feel bad about declining especially since I shouldn't be dragged into or affected by her drama. I have a good out and shouldn't feel bad, right?

She'd still do that to some degree even with me. I just really, really don't want to travel with her and have to go out for dinner and such. I think she would rather not be alone in the evenings. But whatever.
It was funny because she said something about us not being out there since about 6 months ago. I handle two other locations that I haven't been to since 2018, and another I have NEVER been to.
I really hate working.
